Patricia Rich, ACFRE, is one of the founding partners in EMD Consulting Group. She has consulted throughout the country and overseas on strategic planning, fundraising, search, membership and nonprofit management issues. Her clients have included education, social service and health care organizations, botanical gardens, art, history and children’s museums, science centers and related groups, and performing arts. She is an ACFRE and currently serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals Research Council. She has been the president/CEO of the Arts and Education Council, the united arts fund in St. Louis, and prior to that she was director of planning and development at the Missouri Botanical Garden. In these positions she has had responsibility for all phases of fundraising (membership, annual campaign, major gifts, capital campaigns, proposals, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, special events), strategic planning and nonprofit management.
She taught the graduate level fundraising course at UM-St. Louis for fifteen years as well as a course on strategic planning. Her book on membership is in its second edition, now called Membership Marketing in the Digital Age, and is available through Rowman & Littlefield Publishers and at Amazon.
In the community, she has been active as the founding President of the Women’s Foundation of Greater Saint Louis and has served on the boards of Craft Alliance and the Organization for Tropical Studies. She was the first female police commissioner for St. Louis County.
