Kari McAvoy, a Partner at EMD Consulting since 2010, specializes in strategy development, talent optimization, executive transition, program development, and merger exploration and facilitation.
Prior to joining EMD, Kari served as the Vice President of Community Investment at the United Way of Greater St. Louis, managing the allocations department that annually awarded almost $60 million in funding to local health and human services nonprofit organizations. Under Kari’s guidance, the United Way created Quality Standards, adopted new community investment and capacity building strategies, established a co-branding program, implemented new reporting and grants management software, and re-structured admissions and one-time grants.
For five years, Kari taught “Strategic Planning and Execution” at Brown School at Washington University. She serves on a number of committees and boards. Awards include the St. Louis Business Journal “40 Under 40” and Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s President’s Award.
